The water of the "Marienbrunnen" fountain

Waldrast Water

The water in the "Marienbrunnen" fountain in front of the pilgrimage church was already mentioned in the old Waldrast book of miracles as "special water". As early as the 16th century, the spring, which has a healing effect, was tapped. Modern analyses confirm the excellent quality of the water and its high magnesium content. The water that flows from the Marienbrunnen is valued as a source of energy by people from near and far. Many people are convinced that the water enhances the body's defenses and self-healing power when drunk or applied to diseased areas.

According to an analysis by the University of Erlangen in June 2004, the following substance are contained in the water of Maria Waldrast:

  • Calcium: 493.0 mg
  • Magnesium: 39.6mg
  • Sodium: 40.9 mg
  • Sulfate: 1060.0 mg
  • Hydrogen-carbonate: 380.0 mg
  • Chloride: 51.5 mg
  • Nitrate: 1.0 mg
