Holidays in the ski resorts

Once the white carpet is rolled out, it's time to put on your skis and glide across the perfectly groomed slopes of the Serles ski area. The sun-drenched ski area has slopes for recreational skiers, beginners and families. At the Hotel Maria Waldrast, we drive you directly to the ski resort on our quad bike! A day's skiing in the Stubai Alps couldn't get off to a more comfortable start. You will also find other larger ski areas within close proximity. The Stubai Glacier is a special experience. You can ski up to 3,000 meters above sea level here.

EXPERIENCE THE PEACE AND QUIET OF NATURE WITH SKI MOUNTAINEERING

If you want to discover the beauty of the snowy Tyrolean landscape away from the ski slopes, you can experience the quieter side of winter in the Wipp Valley while ski mountaineering. Conquering the mountain peaks in harmony with nature is an almost meditative experience. Direct from Hotel Maria Waldrast to the highlight: Our own natural toboggan run. It is perfect for a fun toboggan ride with family or friends. The footpath is separated from the toboggan run, enabling a safe ascent and we can also pick up our hotel guests on request.

Tobogganing

At the foot of the majestic Serles, one of Tyrol's most beautiful and thrilling toboggan runs provides pure winter fun with friends or the whole family!

Maria Waldrast toboggan run

In the crystal-clear winter air, you can race down the 3.6 km long route from the monastery down into the valley to Matrei am Brenner. Excitement is guaranteed on a thrilling ride over wide curves and open countryside.

The idyllic toboggan run is excellently prepared and equipped with snow-making machines. With daily night tobogganing on the run, which is floodlit until 11 pm, you can experience festive tobogganing fun under the starry sky. Our cosy toboggan hut is open until 10 pm on Friday and Saturday and promises lots of fun.

If one toboggan run isn’t enough for you, you will find another natural toboggan run just a leisurely hour's walk from the Waldrast via the winter wonderland of Waldraster-Jöchl. After a long descent into the Stubaital, take the Serles cable car back to the mountain station and hike back to the Waldrast.

The ascent

On a romantic winter hike through the fairytale mountain landscape, even the ascent will be an unforgettable experience. From the Mauthäusl, which is located above Mützens, you can reach the pilgrimage site of Maria Waldrast in around 2 hours. You don't have to follow the toboggan run, but you can hike along the separate road to the monastery.

If this takes too long, you can also reach the start of the toboggan run from the summit station of the Serlsbahnen on foot in around 1 hour, or the shuttle service will easily and conveniently take you from the Matrei train station to Maria Waldrast. Once you have arrived at the pilgrimage site, the monastery inn invites you to enjoy refreshments so that you have plenty of energy for the exciting toboggan ride.

In addition, there is an opportunity to climb even farther up, and from the other side of the mountain saddle, you can enjoy a long ride down into the Stubaital to the valley station in Mieders. If you don't have your own toboggan or don't want to lug yours around, there is a large selection of toboggans at the on-site rental.
